Luxury Living Space

THE BRIEF

Our long-standing client was building their own home and wanted options regarding decisions around hard surface finishes to certain areas.

THE SOLUTION

We suggested a Virtual Reality experience with real-time interaction and material changes, viewed through a headset. This gives the operator complete freedom to explore the space as they wish, obviously different from a CG animation where the viewpoint is always a fixed path. With VR you can either navigate through the built environment if you have a similar-sized open physical space, or you can remain stationary and use the controllers to teleport from point to point. Within the headset, there is the ability to access a drop-down menu through which you can scroll through texture options. Viewing the space in VR allows you to fully experience and understand as close as possible the scale of your project, and eliminates any costly revisits to the build to amend design decisions.

THE RESULTS

In this example the kitchen unit surfaces, raised area flooring, living area flooring and wet room hard surface textures are all changeable. The geometry is first created in our modelling programme, then taken into out VR creation software where the interactivity and navigation are implemented. Virtual Reality is here to stay, and with Space VR it’s much more accessible then you might’ve thought. Up until a few years ago, because of the cost implication relating to the process of emerging technology, Virtual reality was the main stay of larger projects. We’ve honed our processes so VR can be part of your project regardless of budget. Our client was delighted with the results and has already started using VR to promote their property business with great success. They have now had us design a VR room specifically for their Virtual Reality experiences.
